Privacy Policy

Gumdrop ("the App") is designed to help you organize and rediscover your screenshots. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it's used, and your choices.

1. Screenshots & Photos

Gumdrop accesses your photo library only with your explicit permission. Your screenshots are processed to extract useful information like descriptions, tags, business names, and event dates.

• Image analysis is performed using OpenAI's API. Screenshot images are sent to OpenAI's servers for analysis and are subject to OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI does not use API data to train their models.
• All extracted data (descriptions, tags, locations, etc.) is stored locally on your device.
• Gumdrop does not upload your screenshots to any server other than OpenAI for analysis.

2. Location Data

If you enable proximity alerts, Gumdrop monitors your location to notify you when you're near a saved place. Location data is processed entirely on your device and is never sent to any server.

3. Analytics & Telemetry (Beta Only)

During the beta testing period, the App collects anonymous usage data to help us improve the experience. This includes:

• Event counts (screenshots imported, analyzed, deleted)
• API usage metrics (token counts, cost estimates)
• Walkthrough progress
• Error reports
• Device name and iOS version

This data is sent to our analytics service and stored securely. It does not include the content of your screenshots, personal information, or location data. Beta analytics will be removed or made opt-in before public release.

4. Data Storage

All your screenshot data, collections, tags, and preferences are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We do not operate user accounts or cloud storage. If you delete the App, all local data is removed.

5. Third-Party Services

• OpenAI API — used for screenshot analysis and text embeddings. Images are sent for processing and are not retained by OpenAI beyond the API request. See OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy.
• Apple Photos — accessed with your permission to import screenshots.
• Apple Calendar / EventKit — accessed with your permission if you choose to export detected events.

6. Children's Privacy

Gumdrop is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
